Why Blogging

For those who know me well, previously I have a Chinese blog with over 6W visitors and a peak word count of 89W. And I built my past Chinese blog in January 2022.

Why should I build my blog?

The initial idea is straightforward: writing a blog is fantastic, and my childhood fantasy hacker is generally cool.

Imagine a cabin where you can't see your fingers. The world outside is full of lights. The hacker is looking at a black screen, inspired, fingertips flying, tapping the keyboard, entering a line of brilliant but malicious code, manipulating everything in the world. From the Federal Reserve interest rate hike to the secret summit of the Five Eyes Alliance, from the exchange rate of the Chinses Yuan to the black market circulation of drugs, all under their control !!!

Yeah, it's cool to hear. Very much the kind of fantasy a young boy has as a child - either to be a big hero who saves the universe or a big bad guy who is vicious.

However, I had been in the Department of Computer Science and Technology of Tsinghua University for over two year. By the time I built my Chinese blog, I realized that the above picture I portraited was nerver the case.

Most of the time, I write my codes really slow, for the consideration of the extensibility of my functions and so on. There is absolutely no code give me a pleasant feeling of manipulate the whole world in just one line, but rather my code is so cumbersome that teammates often do not want to read through it.

The magic of codes is not fantastic as I imagined before I become a programmer (the so-called hacker probably). Not to mention that I always thought hackers were eccentric and handsome - wearing a black T-shirt with sunglasses, walking down the street, there is a feeling that he is always the main character in the film.

However, most of the people I met from my department were normal in appearance. If you really want to say something, most of the students in my department are somehow well sloppy-weared. After all, many of them stay up late at night writing codes. Obviously, their work and rest are particularly nether worldly.

In addition, there are many common characteristics of my department mates, such as too many otaku (死宅二次元), such as the high rate of singles (please forgive me for using false statistics of people around to cover up my emotional discomfort), and what else?

To sum up, the students of my department, not at all with the imaginary hacker temperament. They are pretty ordinary and normal people.

And among them, I am a relatively different one. In a fancy and pretend-to-sell learning way, I am obviously out of distribution. For the first thing, my hair is definitely out of 3, 😂😂😂

As for the rest, I still have many out of distribution places, such as the courses I registered are so different from my dapartment mates, such as always speaking politely and well, and finally, I hope to document my life, which is ordinary but unpredictable and constantly twists.

Anyway, as you can see, the life of my classmates around me is somehow ordinary, so far away from the famous film The Martix. And I have entirely given up the cool ideal of becoming a hacker who operates all humankind in just several codes, accepting my ordinary and everyday ups and downs and the life of achieving nothing.

Knocking code, and writing blogs, is the daily life of countless hackers I know. Obviously, I am not genetically compatible with the word hacker, and I only write blogs to record the trivialities of my life, so I can laugh at myself at the moment after many years -

Look at you. You cared so much at that time. But, did to achieve or to lose really that matter?

Why use Notion Next when you already have blog?

Because people still need to have ideals. Otherwise, I really become salty fish ...

Well, not really, because I still want to find a position to continue study ah!

Because of the changes since the second half of this year, my life plan is now converging on completing a Ph.D. overseas. Specifically, it should be a Ph.D. in NLP in North America, and the Ph.D. application still requires a decent personal homepage.

So I decided to seriously rewrite a formal homepage dedicated to application-related information, such as:

  1. Resume
  1. Research
  1. Publication
  1. Contribution
  1. SOP
  1. PR

This page is meant to be written very officially; as you can see, it is as severe a book as I am in person.

By the way, for the information mentioned above, I have nothing but a resume...

Hahaha~

Blog and personal page, what do they record?

As mentioned before, this page is mainly about application-related severe content. You can turn left to my new Chinese blog for daily minutiae and love-hate relationships.

My Chinese blog records:

  1. various summaries
  1. what I have seen and heard
  1. reading and writing
  1. Tsinghua Yuan Diary

These things I called, Serious Chinese Literature. But I also place my Tsinghua Yuan Diary on my page because Notion is too powerful to deploy and can relieve the large size of my blog.

If you are interested in my and want to know how I copy my homework from others, how I break my defence, and how I waste my time every day, you can contact me personally to get the password~

Back to this personal page, it records the following:

  1. personal information for application
  1. my research experience
  1. some of my writing in English

Why Notion Next?

Why do I choose Notion Next? github.io is at least available in China!

But github.io is too big to fit on my Mac (

Indeed, the biggest problem with github.io is that it is too large and inconvenient to deploy, requiring more than 8min to deploy each time, and it may crash due to github's interface problems. Ultimately, it's too primitive, the UI isn't beautiful enough, and the configuration is relatively cumbersome.

Notion Next is a different story, and thanks to the power of Notion, it can carry a rich set of media content that is perfectly suited to my needs.

So, here's what you see. My new blog in Chinese and Personal Page, built on the last day of 2022, a farewell to 2022, and I look forward to the promising things that await me next year.

I also wish you reading these words, whether on the mainland or overseas, peace and prosperity and a happy New Year~
